Our Mission
- To protect and preserve local historic sites, restore, and enhance the historic character of Broward County and support education and research regarding historic preservation.
- To support the historic designation of significant buildings and districts throughout the county and work for that status on local and, where appropriate, national levels.
- To increase the involvement of residents and visitors in preserving Broward County’s legacies.
We Advocate for
- Legislation that preserves the historical and cultural fabric of our communities.
- Protection of historical and cultural resources from inappropriate legislation, regulatory rulings, or court decisions hindering preservation.
- Preservation of community input in the policy-making process.
- Collaboration with local and county organizations to further policies and ordinances that protect Florida’s built history and heritage.
WE'RE ABOUT SUPPORTING
HISTORIC SMALL RESTAURANTS
Now in its fifth year, American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are once again supporting 50 small, independently owned restaurants nationwide through the Historic Small Restaurants Grant Program.
Any restaurant that is identified as a contribution to their neighborhood ‘s unique history and identity may be eligible to receive $50,000 in funding to help them improve their businesses and positively impact their communities.
Each year Broward Trust continues to submit and support Fort Lauderdale’s House on the River for this grant.

By joining the Broward County Trust for Historic Preservation as a Board Member, you become part of a community dedicated to preserving the area’s historical and architectural heritage. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the Trust’s efforts in saving historic buildings and landmarks and promoting the region’s cultural identity.

Board Members of the Trust have access to a wealth of resources related to historic preservation, including educational materials, workshops, seminars, and events.
Recognition:
Board Members of the Trust are recognized for their contribution to the preservation of Broward County built history, archaeological sites, historic landmarks and heritage. These efforts in the community, make you eligible to receive awards and accolades for your efforts in historic preservation.
